Summer is Just Around the Corner!!

'I had a big experience at SHPC last summer, the summer before and the summer before!

Here are my experiences on field trips from all  my summers.

I learned about all kinds of animals at Rouge Valley and Eniskillen.

I learned about water and precipitation at Petticoat Creek.

I learned safety outside at Rouge Valley.

I learned about how sand is made at Cobourg Beach.

I loved the outdoor investigation books! I found this a peaceful activity.

I saw a play at Glen Dhu, when I watched it I started to write my own plays!

I learned about poison ivy at Greenwood.

I loved Geocaching and scavenger hunts at Greenwood.

I loved all the picnics and tortillas. Mmm!

I made leopard and rainbow rocks at Darlington.

I caught a frog at Eniskillen!

And best of all, I liked making friends from different locations.

I loved being at the Ormiston location, too!

I loved singing and dancing to music.

I liked all the healthy lunches and snacks.

I liked making crafts and going outside.

The events that the ECEs made were so fun!

And your child can join too!

After more than a year of researching, planning, designing and constructing, we are thrilled to share that we have created our first full outdoor learning environment at our Applecroft location!  Thanks to the collaboration of the Ministry of Education; Licensing and Quality Assurance, Durham Region Children’s Services, Durham Region Health Department, Durham District School Board Early Years Department, Playscape Inspections, Christopher Burtch, Landscape Architect, Five Star Property and of course our own staff team, what started as a vision has become a reality!  This beautiful natural learning environment is equipped with log seating and discovery tables, interactive play panels, gardens, a tunnel bridge, trees and much more!  What a wonderful opportunity for our youngest learners to explore and discover!  With special thanks to Durham Region Children’s Services who provided funding to help us achieve this goal!
