Licensed Home Child Care

Age Range:  6 weeks or older but younger than 13 years

Adult Child Ratio:  1:6

Licensed Home Child Care offers high-quality care and programming in a warm and welcoming home environment.  Home care has the benefits of small family grouping which allows siblings to stay together.  Providers receive ongoing mentoring and support from a RECE.  They also have monthly monitoring visits, as well as quarterly health and safety checks.

Parents/guardians receive daily feedback on their child’s day and are encouraged to reciprocate with their child’s provider as necessary to support the child’s ongoing needs.  Parents/guardians are welcome and encouraged to review their child’s progress by speaking with their provider and/or taking the time to review the photos and curriculum plans that are displayed in the providers home.

 

 

Infant Program
Age Range: 6 weeks – 18 months
Adult Child Ratio: 1 : 3

 

The infant program focuses on providing the children with a safe and nurturing environment, enabling them to develop security in both their environment and relationships. The children are encouraged to explore their surroundings through touch, taste, smell and sound, and are provided with a variety of stimulation that responds to their sensory needs and supports their learning development.

 

Parents/guardians receive daily verbal and written feedback on their child's day and are encouraged to reciprocate with their child's teachers as necessary to support the child's ongoing needs. Parents/guardians are welcome and encouraged to review their child's progress by speaking with the staff and/or taking some time to review the photos and curriculum plans that are displayed in the centre.

 

 

Toddler Program

 

Age Range: 18 months – 30 months (2.5 years)
Adult Child Ratio: 1 : 5

 

The toddler program focuses on the inquisitive nature of toddlers and their need for ongoing stimulation, redirection and reinforcement. The toddler program promotes language development, self-help skills and sharing; and their days are busy and active, responding to their constant need to be stimulated. The toddler's natural curiosity is used to promote language and learning in daily activities.

 

Parents/guardians receive daily feedback on their child's day and are encouraged to reciprocate with their child's teachers as necessary to support the child's ongoing needs. Preschool Program
Age Range: 30 months (2.5 years) – 44 months (3.8 years)
Adult Child Ratio: 1 : 8

 

The preschool program focuses on preparing the children for their shift to school, and on making this transition smooth. The children are introduced to consistent routines and they learn how to manage their own behaviour and become more confident in their social interactions. The program promotes problem solving, language and literacy, and responds to their innate curiosity and eagerness to question and to learn.

 

Parents/guardians receive daily feedback on their child's day and are encouraged to reciprocate with their child's teachers as necessary to support the child's ongoing needs. Nursery School Program
Age Range: 30 months (2.5 years) – 44 months (3.8 years)
Adult Child Ratio: 1 : 8

 

The nursery school program is a condensed version of the preschool program and operates for half days between September and June. The program focuses on providing the children with an opportunity for a variety of social and learning experiences that will support the child's transition into full time school. The nursery school program is ideal for the child who has not had any formal introduction to group care.

 

Parents/guardians receive daily feedback on their child's day and are encouraged to reciprocate with their child's teachers as necessary to support the child's ongoing needs. Full Day Kindergarten Extended Day Program
Age Range: 44 months (3.8 years) – 68 months (5.8 years) (Junior & Senior Kindergarten)
Adult Child Ratio: 1 : 13 

 

The Full Day Kindergarten extended day program supports and complements the school's Full Day Kindergarten program, and focuses on offering the children a variety of learning opportunities that will provide them with a solid start to their education. The children experience an integrated day as they transition seamlessly from child care to Kindergarten and back. The program is child-directed and play-based therefore promoting a love of learning that sets the stage for ongoing success.

Age Range: 68 months or older but younger than 13 years

Junior Schoolage

 

Age Range: 9 years or older but younger than 13 years

 

Adult Ratio: 1:20

 

The schoolage program focuses on providing the children with a safe and relaxed atmosphere in which they can enjoy more social and recreational experiences. The program enables the children to take an active part in planning activities and in making choices, therefore promoting their independence. Games and sports become an important part of the program, supporting the children's capacity to work cooperatively with others and to develop positive character traits.
