Claremont (North Pickering)      Perm PT 10 month     20 hrs/week     Assistant

 

IMPORTANT

This position requires the ability to work the following shifts: 630am to 230pm, 230pm to 6:30pm and any other shift deemed necessary for operations at the discretion of the centre Supervisor.

These positions are a guaranteed 20 hours per week but require flexible scheduling.

***you must have daily access to a vehicle, as you may be deployed to nearby centres

The Role
Reporting to the Supervisor of Child Care, the Child Care Assistant is responsible for the overall learning and care of the children in the program.  Working as part of a team, the Child Care Assistant will develop and implement programs, maintain safe environments, work collaboratively with families, maintain professional relationships, and adhere to the Child Care and Early Years Act.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures all children and families are provided with a high-quality childcare experience, and provides ongoing support to families as needed
  • Recognizes and celebrates the uniqueness of all children, builds rapport, and manages group behaviour while ensuring a physically and psychologically safe environment  
  • Attends and fully participates in all employee orientation, training, meetings, and family events as outlined by the Supervisor

The Ideal Candidate – Qualifications, Education and Experience

  • Experience working with children within a recreational or licensed childcare setting
  • Valid up to date Standard First Aid with CPR C (prior to the start of the position)
  • Ability to effectively respond to the individual/unique needs of children
  • Understands the legal responsibilities and moral imperative to report suspected child abuse to Child Protection Services

  • Permanent employees start with 6% (3 weeks) vacation accumulation, 3 floater days and accumulate 10 sick days per year (but are not paid out)

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

 

In order to be a member of our team you must have:

 

  • Current First Aid and CPR training
  • All immunizations up to date including Tuberculosis (TB) test
  • Current Police Background Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening
  • All Early Childhood Educators must provide proof of membership and be in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
